H&M Announces Collaboration with Alexander Wang
All hail H&M for it's exciting forthcoming collaboration- how did they do it?! For those of you who haven't heard, H&M will be collaborating with Alexander Wang in just under eight weeks ( a little bit of time to save those pennies) and i couldn't be more thrilled!
Wang has been teasing us with photos from the collection over this week via instagram, and H&M have even employed Rihanna into being the first person photographed in the collection.The singer who donned grey AW branded leggings and matching crop top, as well as the leaked photos, confirmed my suspicions that the range will be heavily sports themed and definitely not for everyone.
The collection will also be colour free, with absolutely everything in soul reflecting shades of black and grey with a smidgen of white. In-keeping with the massive current branding trend, there is a lot of wang all over the place! From a grey marl sweater that takes its cue from the aforementioned iconic Klein design, to 'Wang' on jacket cuffs, beanies, sports bras, legging knees and waistbands- there will be no subtle wearers of this collection!
Unlike the retailer's last collaboration with Isabel Marant, The New York-based designer was quick to point out the his H&M collaboration would include original pieces."I wanted to create a collection where most of the pieces have been designed from scratch. Rather than creating affordable versions of expensive items, I wanted to design true performance pieces that are within the natural price points of sportswear of H&M, so we were able to create the best version of these pieces, through our vocabulary," he said when the partnership was announced. But don't fear, he hasn't abandoned his signature designs completely, with his leather boxing shorts, croc effect, and the sheer stripe detailing from his spring/summer 2013 collection still sneaking in!
