Alt J-This Is All Yours Album Review
2 years later and Leeds quirk-rockers Alt-J must somehow follow 2012’s Mercury Prize-winning debut An Awesome Wave. But far from any rested-upon laurels, This Is All Yours is a band looking its own hype in the eye, exhibiting both innovation and a continuity that is neither contrived nor rehashed.
The whole album is refreshing, with chiming bells and oriental flutes somehow comfortably nestling in amongst songs sampling miley cyrus and guitar solos. Whether this is an influence of the loss of bassist and co-founder Gwil Sainsbury in early 2014, this album is a playfull adventure and shows a hidden (till now) side to the musical trio. This is not just another indie album and is definatley one for the early morning commute!
